The quieter Carlow bank of a River Barrow abbey town, joined to its Kilkenny twin by a 260-year-old bridge.
Graiguenamanagh sits on the River Barrow, and while the main town and its Cistercian abbey are on the Kilkenny side, the settlement of Tinnahinch on the opposite bank belongs to County Carlow, and the two are treated as one town straddling the border. A seven-arched limestone bridge, built in 1764, links the two sides across the river.
