Ireland’s premier fishing port, a working harbour town on the south Donegal coast in the shadow of Slieve League.
Killybegs is the largest fishing port in Ireland, and unlike a lot of coastal towns built for tourism, it still feels like a working place first: trawlers, ice plants and net stores line the harbour alongside the shops and pubs. It takes its Irish name, Na Cealla Beaga, or "little cells", from early monastic settlements here, and Killybegs has a genuinely long history as a port, sheltering a Spanish Armada vessel in 1588.

Boats run from the harbour out along the coast to the base of Slieve League, whose sea cliffs rise close to 600 metres, among the highest in Europe, passing lighthouses and sea caves on the way.
