It is also the most convenient part of the city for onward travel. Connolly Station and Busáras, the main bus station, are both a short walk from O’Connell Street, and the Luas red and green lines both pass close by, so a B&B here suits visitors planning day trips out of Dublin as much as those exploring the city itself.

Number 14 traces the full arc of that history, from a wealthy single-family townhouse to a subdivided tenement housing around a hundred people by 1911, and is now a widely praised museum run as a guided tour.
Parnell Square and the Garden of Remembrance
At the top of O’Connell Street, Parnell Square is Dublin’s second Georgian square and home to the Garden of Remembrance, dedicated to all those who died for Irish freedom, and the Hugh Lane Gallery, a significant collection of modern and contemporary art housed in a Georgian mansion.
The Rotunda and Moore Street
The Rotunda Hospital, founded in 1745, was the first purpose-built maternity hospital in these islands and remains a working landmark on Parnell Square. Just off O’Connell Street, Moore Street’s open-air fruit and veg stalls are one of the last surviving traditional street markets in the city centre.
The Four Courts and the quays
A walk along the north quays brings you to the Four Courts, the domed home of Ireland’s superior courts since the 1790s and a flashpoint of the 1922 Civil War, before the river continues down toward the Ha’penny Bridge and the south city.
Getting to Dublin 1
Dublin 1 is the best-connected part of the city for arriving without a car. Connolly Station, on the DART and mainline rail network, and Busáras, the national bus terminus, both sit right on its edge, and the Luas red and green lines pass through or close by. Dublin Airport is about a twenty-five minute drive or a short bus ride away. Within the area, everything is walkable, and driving is generally more hassle than it is worth given limited and metered parking.
