Clonbur is a small village in the Gaeltacht area of south Galway, sitting on the isthmus that separates Lough Corrib from Lough Mask near the Mayo border. It is part of Joyce Country, the hill and lake district named for a Norman family who settled here in the 13th century, and the village itself is little more than a crossroads, a church and a handful of shops and pubs, which is exactly its appeal for visitors looking to get out onto the lakes and hills rather than shop or sightsee.
