The Town Park and Rose Garden
One of the largest urban parks in Ireland sits right off Denny Street, 35 acres with over five kilometres of paths and a rose garden of 35 varieties planted in 1987. Few Irish towns keep this much green this close to the centre.

In the Ashe Memorial Hall on Denny Street, the county museum holds more than 4,000 objects and a walk-through recreation of Tralee’s streets as they were in 1450. It is the best wet-morning hour in town.
The Tralee to Fenit Greenway
A flat, traffic-free path runs about 13 kilometres from the town along the old rail line to the harbour village of Fenit, opened in 2022. At the far end are the marina, a sculpture of St Brendan the Navigator and the 1851 lighthouse on Little Samphire Island.
Blennerville Windmill
On the edge of town where the Dingle road meets the bay, Blennerville is billed as Ireland’s largest working windmill, built around 1800 and restored in the 1980s, standing 21 metres over the water. The visitor centre tells the story of the emigrant ships that left this shore.
Banna Strand
A long Blue Flag beach about a 15-minute drive northwest of town, backed by high dunes, with room to walk for hours. Roger Casement was captured here in April 1916 after landing from a German submarine, three days before the Easter Rising, and a memorial stands above the beach.
Ardfert Cathedral
Ten kilometres from town, Ardfert grew around a monastery founded by St Brendan the Navigator in the 6th century, and the medieval cathedral that followed keeps a fine Romanesque doorway and a great 13th-century east window. It pairs naturally with Banna Strand next door.
Siamsa Tíre
The National Folk Theatre of Ireland has its home beside the Town Park, staging performances built on Irish music, dance and folklore in a 350-seat theatre. It is a genuinely different night out from the pub circuit.
Getting to Tralee
Tralee Casement station connects to Dublin and Cork, mostly with a change at Mallow, and Kerry Airport at Farranfore is about twenty minutes away with its own rail stop. Bus Éireann runs to Dingle, Killarney, Limerick and Cork from the town’s bus station. Killarney is around 35 minutes by road and Dingle about 45, which is exactly why Tralee works as a base for both.
