Staying in Glenbeigh

A small village on the Ring of Kerry at the foot of Seefin Mountain, with one of Ireland’s great beaches on its doorstep.

Glenbeigh sits on the N70 Ring of Kerry road about ten minutes west of Killorglin, tucked into a horseshoe of hills below Seefin Mountain, with the Caragh and Behy rivers flowing either side of the village into Castlemaine Harbour. It is often called the jewel in the Ring of Kerry, and staying at a B&B here puts you close to some of the peninsula’s best scenery without the crowds of the bigger towns further round the loop.

The main draw is Rossbeigh Beach, a seven-kilometre sweep of sand with views across the water to Inch Beach and the Dingle Peninsula’s mountains, good for a long walk, a swim or a go at watersports. Inland, the Glenbeigh Horseshoe, the circuit of hills from Seefin to Drung Hill, is part of the wider Kerry Way and a serious day’s walking for anyone based here.

For something quieter, the Kerry Bog Village Museum on the edge of the village recreates the daily life of a 19th-century bog community, with the small, shaggy Kerry Bog Ponies a particular hit with children. Killarney and its national park are around half an hour away by car, so Glenbeigh also works as a calmer base for exploring the wider Ring of Kerry.

Things to do near Mountain View Bed & Breakfast

Rossbeigh Beach

A seven-kilometre Blue Flag strand at the mouth of Castlemaine Harbour, with views across to Inch Beach and the Dingle mountains. It is popular for swimming, windsurfing, sailing and horse riding, and in local folklore is said to be where Oisín and Niamh took to the sea for Tír na nÓg.

The Glenbeigh Horseshoe

A mountain circuit from Seefin to Drung Hill above the village, forming part of the Kerry Way. It is one of the more demanding sections of the trail, with wide views over Dingle Bay.

Kerry Bog Village Museum

A recreated 19th-century bog village on the edge of Glenbeigh, with cottages, a forge and traditional farm buildings giving a sense of rural life on the bog, alongside the native Kerry Bog Ponies.

Ring of Kerry access

Glenbeigh sits directly on the N70 Ring of Kerry road, with Killorglin ten minutes away and Killarney around half an hour, making it a convenient, quieter base for touring the peninsula.

Getting to Glenbeigh

Glenbeigh is on the N70, the main Ring of Kerry road, about ten minutes from Killorglin and roughly half an hour from Killarney, which has the nearest train station and connections onward to Cork and Dublin. Kerry Airport is around 40 minutes away by car.

Booking Mountain View Bed & Breakfast direct, and what the rating means

A real, assessed b&b

Mountain View Bed & Breakfast holds a 3-star b&b rating under Fáilte Ireland's National Quality Assurance Framework, assessed against the bedrooms, bathrooms, breakfast and welcome rather than self-declared. It's an independent signal you can trust before you book, separate from any platform's own review score.

No fees, no middleman

Ring the owner, or use the contact details on this page, and arrange the stay with the house rather than through an app. No booking fee added to your bill and no commission taken from the owner, so the room rate you agree is the room rate you pay.

A better stay, direct

Owners answer the questions a booking platform never will: whether the room at the front is quieter, how early breakfast can be served, or where to park for a few days. Speaking to the house directly is how B&Bs in Ireland were booked for decades.
