A north Dingle Peninsula village on the “Gold Coast,” with the sandy Maharees spit on one side and Brandon Bay on the other.
Castlegregory sits on the north shore of the Dingle Peninsula, roughly halfway between Tralee and Dingle town, and takes its name from a castle built here by Gregory Hoare in the sixteenth century. The village looks out over one of Ireland’s longest beaches, a near twelve-mile run of sand stretching from the Maharees through the village and on towards Cloghane.
The Maharees, a narrow sandy tombolo just north of the village, is the main draw for a B&B stay here: Blue Flag beaches on one side, sheltered water on the other, and a reputation among watersports fans for some of the best windsurfing, kitesurfing and diving conditions in the country.
It also makes a quieter alternative to Dingle town itself, close enough for a day trip over the Conor Pass or along the coast road, but with Tralee, Fenit and the beaches of Brandon Bay just as easily reached in the other direction.

A better stay, direct
Owners answer the questions a booking platform never will: whether the room at the front is quieter, how early breakfast can be served, or where to park for a few days. Speaking to the house directly is how B&Bs in Ireland were booked for decades.
