One of the largest remaining spring-fed fens in Ireland, Pollardstown Fen near the Curragh is a haven for wetland birds and rare plants, with a boardwalk trail for a quieter walk than the open plain itself.
Getting to Curragh
The Curragh sits just off the M7 motorway, around forty-five minutes from Dublin, with Newbridge and Kildare town both a short drive away on either side. Kildare railway station is close enough to walk from the racecourse, and Newbridge station, on the same Dublin to Cork and Waterford lines, is a few kilometres from the camp, so the area is workable by train with a short taxi or bus at the end.
