A medieval walled town in south Limerick, described as second only to Limerick city itself as a trading centre in the Middle Ages.
Kilmallock grew from a monastery founded in the 6th or 7th century into one of the most important towns in medieval Munster, fortified from 1375 and a stronghold of the Earls of Desmond. Remarkably, the town has scarcely altered since then: its medieval street plan is still the street plan of today, hemmed in by over 1200 metres of surviving town wall.
Walking the town today means passing under Blossom Gate, one of the few original town gates still standing in Ireland, past the 15th-century King’s Castle straddling the Main Street, and on to the 13th-century Collegiate Church and the ruins of the Dominican Priory, said to be the best preserved of its kind in the country.
For a B&B stay, Kilmallock offers a compact, walkable heritage town as a base, with the Ballyhoura hills close by for walking and cycling, and Limerick city within easy driving distance for anything the town itself doesn’t provide.

Booking Deebert House direct, and what the rating means
A real, assessed b&b

No fees, no middleman
Ring the owner, or use the contact details on this page, and arrange the stay with the house rather than through an app. No booking fee added to your bill and no commission taken from the owner, so the room rate you agree is the room rate you pay.
A better stay, direct
Owners answer the questions a booking platform never will: whether the room at the front is quieter, how early breakfast can be served, or where to park for a few days. Speaking to the house directly is how B&Bs in Ireland were booked for decades.
