A small Sligo village whose old Irish name means “town between two rivers,” set in quiet farming country south of Sligo town.
Riverstown takes its English name from the same idea as its Irish one, Baile idir dhá Abhainn, a settlement between two stretches of river, on the River Unshin around 17km south of Sligo town. It has long been a small rural service village, recorded in the 1830s as having a church, a dispensary and a police station, and it keeps that quiet, unhurried character today.
A B&B here suits visitors who want a rural Sligo base rather than a town one, within easy reach of the Sligo Folk Park, the Georgian Coopershill House estate, and the lakes and megalithic sites around Lough Arrow to the south.

Coopershill House
A Georgian Palladian house built in 1774, still in the O’Hara family who built it, set within a 500-acre private estate just outside the village.
Local festivals
Riverstown hosts a Vintage Festival each June bank holiday weekend and the James Morrison Traditional Music Festival in August, both drawing visitors from beyond the immediate area.
Getting to Riverstown
Riverstown sits just off the N4, around 20 minutes south of Sligo town by car, with Boyle and the Lough Arrow area close by to the south. Sligo town has the nearest railway station, with regular trains to Dublin and Connolly and bus links throughout the north-west.
Booking Ross House direct, and what the rating means
A real, assessed b&b
Ross House holds a 3-star b&b rating under Fáilte Ireland's National Quality Assurance Framework, assessed against the bedrooms, bathrooms, breakfast and welcome rather than self-declared. It's an independent signal you can trust before you book, separate from any platform's own review score.
No fees, no middleman
Ring the owner, or use the contact details on this page, and arrange the stay with the house rather than through an app. No booking fee added to your bill and no commission taken from the owner, so the room rate you agree is the room rate you pay.
A better stay, direct
Owners answer the questions a booking platform never will: whether the room at the front is quieter, how early breakfast can be served, or where to park for a few days. Speaking to the house directly is how B&Bs in Ireland were booked for decades.
